submitted 26th Feb 2010 by red_deer_clubManchester's premier imprint continues....
Red Deer Club had a humble beginning in a vegetarian cafe in south Manchester. It was put together with love and care by Mr Duncan Sime, who was driven solely by his love and passion for music. Embracing the popular scene known at the time as folk music, he quickly established the monthly night as a flagship of the Manchester scene at the time.
Having documented the first year’s live performances in the form of recordings, a compilation album was released and Red Deer Club recordings was born in 2006. A series of compilations were to follow, all released on a not-for-profit basis.
Red Deer Club soon blossomed into a full-fledged label, working as an artists co-operative, with every individual involved having vested interest in helping the company grow. With musical performances and record sales being the label’s main sources of income, Red Deer Club has managed not only to establish itself in Manchester but to also have a presence in the national music scene.
2010 finds the label at a point of strength and maturity where advancement to the next level is needed. A chance for it to achieve and illustrate its full potential through a busy schedule of new releases and several artists to promote. Red Deer Club is an institution, which has cherished its artists from their very beginning; with the enthusiasm and dedication of its founder and members still very vividly present, it is outlining the promise of greater things yet to come.
