music IS free is a non-profit music promotion organisation putting on free entry live music events. We put on our free entry monthly nights in Manchester and plan to spread our seed all over the world with help from you! As more people join the music IS free community the word of free events is spread and more people come to our gigs.
The music scene has turned into a massive money making shambles resulting in many amazing bands and talented musicians becoming lost and never heard. We are taking away the idea of making a profit from musicians and giving them what they really want. A fan base.
All of our events are free entry and many allow under 18's giving the musicians a place to play and the people a free night out. With the current economic climate music IS free helps to save the pennies whilst providing quality entertainment in a world where things seem to be getting more and more expensive.
When our new site is up in June users will be able to get involved and put on their own music IS free events in their own towns/citys/countries and help to spread the word of free music further.
We also plan to release free downloadable compilations of the bands we put on and eventually branch out into giving away whole albums for free via download. In a world where many people illegally download music every second without realising they are stealing this is definitely the way to go.
Manchester has always been well known for its musical influence on the world so what better time than now to begin a new revolution.

These guys do great work for local bands, giving them a chance to play when they are just starting out. We played a gig for them recently and it was a great night for everyone and look forward to working with music IS free again in the future!

I have been to a few of the Music IS Free gigs and they are great fun at no cost, they help spread music and love and also at the same time bring custom to the pubs and bars etc.

I've been to a fair few musc Is free gigs and I always have the best time. Everyone is fantastically friendly and the bands are awesome! Such a great idea that really benefits all, I'd recommend everyone should try to catch a gig. Up the mIf!

music is free is such a good idea! just shows you can hang out with all your mates and not spend a penny :) the bands are always really great and the atmosphere is always good.

every single gig has been amazing, and for me like most young people, it's fantastic to have gigs to go to where you don't have to spend money on tickets! plus, every band that currently play at the gigs are great!

Money's bad and no-one likes paying for stuff, music is free is contributing massively to everybody having lots of free fun and enjoyment by listening to some mint bands, Hi im matt and Windows 7 was my idea.

Ive been to a couple of music is free gigs, and not only are there some great bands with a quality atmosphere but its all for free! Just the sort of thing local bands need to get there stuff out there xxxxx

People are far more likely to support our band and come to our gigs when they find out they're FREE!! It's also good to know that we aren't getting skanked by a money grabbing promoter :) It's all about ze Non-Profitness

This is such a good idea. there aren't enough free gigs and giving people something to do instead of going out and getting drunk every night is going to help the community. Also there are too many good bands that nobody ever hears. Go music is free! :)
