The Ragamuffins

We are looking to record a short 4/5 track EP and promotional video, in order to help our group further our musical aspirations.

Hello!

As stated in our biography, we're a relatively new indie pop group but have achieved quite a lot in a short time together.

With interest to release a single of ours in Japan through a subsidiary of major label AVEX, a production company and a media company in Manchester keen to work with us again after using our music in a project that featured at the Labour Party Conference last year and Cannonball PR in London keen to work with us, partially through a new independent label and distribution company they are setting up as well we have quite a lot going for us as a group. A number of independent film makers based in the North West and further afield have also expressed interest in using and indeed have used some of our more leftfield and more introverted tracks in their films. Some of these people are still at film school but it's quite flattering to be asked to soundtrack scenes in films at such an early stage in our music careers.

Unfortunately, a lack of funds to be able to record at a really quality studio, as well as not being able to record a music video, despite our best efforts and ingenuity, have hindered our progress somewhat. We've been lucky enough to get free recording time at the School Of Sound Recording in Manchester and at "Studio 410" near Ormskirk by winning a competition although the quality isn't quite releasable sadly, mainly due to constraints on the time we can spend on the tracks!

We're also really eager to film a music video/s to promote some of our newer tracks and have had offers to film them professionally but most of these are out of our price range at the minute, given that the majority of the gigs we do, (being something other than the pub band dross that seem to be able to generate money churning out other people's hit records) pay us very little.

We'd be unbelievably grateful for any amount of money. As we've already said, there are people willing to release our music but given the way the industry seems to work today there's a huge emphasis on DIY hence our necessity to finance our own album! We could record an album of real quality for about £1000 and the figures quoted for a music video are about £2000 for an HD ready top of the range one. Manchester's Lion Eyes TV, who've worked with Peter Kay, Caroline Quentin and many others have offered to assist with the production and post production too.

Lots of people seem to be starting to believe in our music, but as we're still awaiting that really crucial influential industry player it seems we've got to continue to try and make things happen ourselves. We hope you can help us out financially and would be mega grateful

Thank you

David, Jules and Paul The Ragamuffins
