We are Same Teens and we started in 2007 when none of us were old enough to get into 18+ gigs - we started with an under 18s club night. We did everything ourselves and Mixmag rated it as the best under 18s night in the UK and Ireland. We've had DJs including Tim Burgess, Clint Boon, Smile DJs and DJs from most of Manchester's best nights - venues were reluctant to help and the police were actively against what we do - it didn't stop us and in over two years we've not had a single incident. Then we started DJing - we've played backstage for Iggy and The Stooges, at Dockville Festival in Hamburg, The Secret Garden Party and loads of festivals and bands - we even put on one of the main events at manchester International Festival. We also do an online fanzine called XOX which gets nearly 8000 readers a month and we'd love to make a printed copy. We've had features in Mixmag and Artrocker and been on Radio 1, BBC2, Channel 4 and XFM - we've done everything so far with absolutely no funding and we've had people in Australia and Japan start up Same Teens too. We are putting on 3 of the best nights of In The City with bands coming from New York, Tokyo and all over the UK. Since 2007 some of us have turned 18 so we can now do events that are over 18s too and we've DJ'd in London with Mat Horne and are booked to DJat The Dublin Castle in Camden - we still have kids aged from 14 to 20 who work on what we do and we think it is one of the most worthwhile projects young people can get involved with. Impressed by our work we have been offered internships by the BBC, XFM and Wasted Youth PR - this Summer one of our photographers spent 8 weeks working with Ryan McGinley in New York We would love to expand on what we do and a printed monthly - our presence at the moment is on myspace whichb it won't let us use as our website - we need a website too!

Great idea, I love what these guys are doing! Their work has already inspired a generation of Manchester's teenagers, with this money they could do so much more for the city.
