‘Freestyle’
'Freestyle’...Mark Ashmore, Director of this documentary, is a young Manchester based film-maker with an established track record of working with communities to give them a voice and produce authentic and high end productions that travel globally.
'Freestyle' is an inside look into the local Manchester freestyle football scene, the characters, the who, what, where and why: the crews, their influences in fashion, music and art, and a look at how Manchester sits in the Global freestyle football movement.
The project is an exciting, innovative look into the new sport that is sweeping the globe, the film will examine the social and cultural roots of an urban sport that started in the inner cities of Rio (Brazil) and how the stars of the scene are carving careers for themselves in this underground sport.
This project offers the chance for UK and Manchester Freestyle community’s to work with Mark Ashmore and the Future Artists film/media community on and off the pitch on a transmedia project, that is part community, film production, and live expression, working together to create a project that adds value to the scene, and gives recognition to the pioneers who are creating the global freestyle movement.
