submitted 27th Jan 2010 by fitm8Manchester’s ‘facebook’ of sport & fitness: Fitm8.com will be supported by monthly magazines covering everything from football to fashion
Everybody begins a fitness regime with all the enthusiasm in the world, but making a trip to the gym or going on a run on your own on cold winter nights can soon become boring and lonely. Training on your own can lead to boredom, which is the precurser to failure.
Fitm8 gives you the chance to find people of a similar fitness levels, age group and goals within your locality. You can find out about other members within your gym and together with a fitm8, sport and fitness becomes enjoyable again and much more effective and regular. Have you ever thought about taking part in a sport such as 5 a side football, tennis, or rugby but felt the task of approaching a local team or club was too much hassle ?
Fitm8 will advertise local sports clubs, events and health clubs in the Manchester area. You will also be able to link up with other local people keen to participate in various sports and fitness activities who share your enthusiasm and passion.
The fitm8.com social networking website will be supported by a locally focussed monthly magazine. The website and magazine together will generate revenue from advertising fees secured from a wide range of companies including sports, fitness & fashion. Online forums/messaging and community features will all help to make the site an exciting experience. A free 45 day fitness plan has been developed and will be free to download upon completion of the fitm8.com registration.
Facebook.com was the inspiration behind fitm8, and although fitm8.com has a more specialised target market the potential for national and international expansion is quite a realistic goal.
As with facebook, fitm8.com allows people to network with others based on many different criteria. Users can join networkes based on their home town/city, their workplace or age group. Fitm8 will begin its promotion campaign in various towns and areas within Greater Manchester. It will help people connect by suggesting potential partners /friends of similar age groups, with similar interests in particular areas of sport and fitness.
Forums will be developed for particular events such as the World Cup. People can register with fitm8 to simply discuss their favourite sport/ team or recreational activity. Interesting features in the magazines and website will include advice on fitness, sports training and active holidays.
Finance is required to complete the online social network site, and also to print the first run of the magazine.
